Heartscapes Art Space
Process art • creativity • emotional expression • community
Heartscapes Art Space is a gentle, playful, and deeply human-centered art space rooted in process over product. It is an invitation to explore creativity as a language for emotions, identity, healing, and connection—without judgment, pressure, or the need to “be good at art.”
Grounded in Reggio Emilia–inspired values, somatic awareness, and my background as both an art educator and holistic coach, Heartscapes honors art as a way of knowing, releasing, and being in relationship with ourselves and one another.
This work is for children, caregivers, and community members who long for:
creative freedom
emotional expression beyond words
nervous-system–aware art spaces
belonging through shared making
At Heartscapes, the process is the point.
Heartscapes Art Space is inspired by creative studios such as Meri Cherry Studio (Los Angeles), Space DNVR (Wheat Ridge), and Heartspace Therapy (Minneapolis)—models that celebrate imagination, emotional expression, and child-led, heart-centered exploration. These environments demonstrate how process art builds confidence, creative problem-solving skills, and deep connection. My goal is to bring that same accessible, inclusive spirit to Salida.
A Place Where Creativity Leads
Heartscapes Art Space is a community-centered art experience for children rooted in process over product, play over performance, and curiosity over perfection.
This is not a craft class.
It’s not about following steps or making something “right.”
It’s an invitation for children to explore materials freely, express themselves authentically, and build confidence through the joy of creating.
Based in Salida, Heartscapes offers open-ended art sessions for Pre-K and elementary-aged children outside of school time—after school, on Fridays, and weekends—designed to nourish imagination, emotional expression, and connection.
What Is Process Art?
Process art focuses on the experience of making, not the finished product.
In a Heartscapes session, children are encouraged to:
explore materials without a predetermined outcome
follow their curiosity and intuition
take creative risks and make “mistakes”
listen to their feelings and ideas
create in ways that feel meaningful to them
There are no examples to copy.
No pressure to perform.
No expectation to take something home that looks a certain way.
The learning happens in the doing.
Why Heartscapes Exists
As a former art teacher and current preschool teacher at Ark Valley Preschool in Poncha Springs, I’ve seen how powerful creativity can be when children are given time, space, and trust.
Inspired by Reggio Emilia–influenced learning and creative studios like Meri Cherry Studio and Space DNVR, Heartscapes was created to bring more child-led, heart-centered art experiences to the Salida community—especially in a rural area where these opportunities can be hard to find.
At Heartscapes, art becomes:
a language for emotions
a way to build confidence
a practice in problem-solving
a space for belonging
